I have seen in the manual where it says not to use choke unless in cold conditions and to shut off asap. I also have a cold start light on one of my series. What damage/harm does it do to leave the choke out?

You will be running the engine very rich. Not sure about damage other than using too much fuel and having it run quite rough once the engine is warmed up.

Also remember that you don't have to use full choke all the time. I only need full choke when it is below freezing and that is only to get her to start. Once she's running 1/2 or 1/4 choke will suffice until she hits 120 degrees at which point I push it in all the way. You will eventually learn to use your ear to tell you what your Rover needs.
