If this Land Rover sells at or near the asking price, this is a good thing for everyone else who owns one - the values just went up. IIRC, isn't this the Land Rover that was recently restored by BP?

ps... funny thing is that the location from where it is being sold is where I grew up! Go Falcons!

Right. Ok, well I've been living in Vermont too long.

I grew up in Saratoga CA too (thru '77) while my father worked in Livermore (General Electric).

Rovers were not on my radar screen during High School. I had Bugs 'n Mustangs.

Jeff [sorry this is kinda off topic, but in reality I would have had to ask my Mom to buy this back then!]
Great a fellow Saratogan! It was an awesome place for me at that time of my life - sixth grade through college. Saratoga High school was fun then too, graduated in '79. Although Land Rovers weren't on my mind (or budget) then either, although we crusaded around in our Goodyear XT terra tire shod Toyota and Chevrolet LUV 4WD pick-ups tearing up all the red clay and Madrone / Redwood forest around the fire trails up off Sanborn area.

A '69 Porsche 911E and several Kafer's (VW Beetles) were also my choice of ride back then too. Big Basin Way [Hwy 9] was my testing grounds.
I even designed a sticker after it - I think that old road up (and over the gap) is soo kewl.

I still miss skateboarding slalom style down Pepper Lane, man those were the days. Kinda tough to skateboard on my gravel driveway up here in Vermont. Better off enjoying the rallye tarmac drive to Rovers North in my MINI Cooper S :thumb-up:.

Ya, but how do I get the Dalai Lama to ride around in mine to get my value up?

But then again, I started it. :)

My H.S. was Westmont (1976). Ran track/cross country. Cruised highway 9/Skyline blvd a million times back then. Crashed once on my Honda CB360 coming down and vowed to never again ride (that was short lived). I will have to scan a pic of my '66 912 (owned from 76-86). Bought totalled, had it totalled on me twice, brought it back from the grave 3 times. Rear clips, quarter panels. Full strip down. Do you recall a 356 resto shop in Saratoga run by Kurt Larracou? Flying Porsche Ranch. My current collection of air cooled motors are all Harleys now, but I do have a 65 bug convertible with a prior nice restoration that I putt around on.

Ok..back on topic now (re Dali Lama). I have picked up some resto tips on how the sun visors mount and how the headliner front piece should look.

I am up to $4.82 from digging in my couch cushions. There might be hope.

Does the session with the Dai Lai Lama include tips on how to keep your Rover Shiny like that so you too can get that kind of value out of the next owner?

How about some tips on LUCAS electrics? How about Zen and Rover maintenance?

No. Oh well my high bid is up to $1.35, a Matchbox toy car (It's a Land Rover SVX if that's worth extra) plus an old bit of cheese that my son had hidden for a rainy day.
