how can you tell if your front propshaft is a salisbury?

I am not aware of a Salisbury propshaft. However, the axle casing (if it is a Salisbury) will be identical in style to the rear Salisbury differential. Just do a Google image search and you'll find a pic.

I am not aware of a Salisbury propshaft.

Nor I, but there are propshafts intended for use with Salisbury axles which are different length than propshafts intended for use with Rover axles. Salisbury axle pumpkins are longer than Rover axle pumpkins so the propshaft intended for a Salisbury will be shorter in length. If memory serves it is something like 1-1/2 inches.

Measure the distance between the mounting surfaces of the transfer case flange and pinion flange. Your propshaft sould be the same length with the sliding end half way along the slip joint splines.
