I HAVE A 1972 SERIES III I NEED TO FIND THE REVERSE SWITCH? WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE THERE IS NO REVERSE LIGHTS? I BELIEVE A WIRE IS DISCONNECTED SOMEWHERE, THE REAR LIGHTS ARE ALL CONNECTED. WHERES THE REVERSE SWITCH

My 67 IIA does not have reverse lights. Not sure about your seriesIII?

There is a switch on the shifter assembly itself for the reverse switch, Try http://www.seriestrek.com/manuals.htm to see if you can figure it out.

Yeah I had the same issue. The actual switch was worn out on mine and they do not sell that part anymore. So I bought a brake light switch and fit it into place and that works perfectly :)

Blaaa

Just mount a pair or just 1 fog light in the rear and put a toggle on the dash.

Mine didnt have any back up lights either.

Actually, on mine, I swapped to a IIa tub, and didn't want to go back to the original style little square lights, so I mounted a Hella lamp back there, and ran it to the reverse switch so that I didn't have to have a toggle on the dash.... I can now see to back up!

My '73 does not the switch or a lamp. I have a toggle on the dash and a rear worklamp up high that I use when I am around town. I like the brake switch idea, maybe I'll mount one and put an LED reverse lamp in the PTO hole in the crossmember.

My 73 S3 has the switch and reverse switch. One thing to check is th e polarity of the wires at the lights. If its wrong, it will short to ground and not light. Took me hours to figure this out.....

..for the overdrive mounting bracket (appologizes for sidebaring this post).

Does the front of the overdrive bracket.... bolt to the top of the tranny?

I understand the two bolts holding the rear of the bracket (left side of the pic). If the front did not have a "support", it might sway from side to side.

Thanks,

Jeff

It does bolt to the top of the tranny. I have no movement or sway

..would you mind taking a pic of that front bracket from above? I doctored up the posted pic and cant quite make out how /where it attaches to the tranny. It also appears to bolt to the side of the longer mounting bracket.

Thanks,

Jeff

These are pictures from my restoration. Fortunately (my wife thanks me everyday :D ) my rig is all back together so this is the best picture I got.

Hope it helps :)

If your asking about the overdrive shifter lever bracket.
It ONLY mounts with the 2 bolts on the back just like in the picture above.
It is a thick piece and the overdrive shifts easy so it does SWAY.

Except when the whole drive train moves everytime you accelerate one of these high HP 2.23's.:D That's of course assuming you can get traction and don't roast the tires leaving the light!

Derek...thanks for the pic....it clarified the mounting bracket.

Steve...thanks for the commentary...it verified the setup.

Merry Xmas to all and to all a good night.
