Towing Series III Lightweight

I'm buying a 72 LW this weekend and will be towing it back. Would you recommend I use a trailer or a tow-dolly? My tow vehicle is a 1999 Montero Sport LTD with the 3.5l V6. Its about a 3 hour tow and I have to go over the Cascades.

The flat trailer is probably best although the trailer plus ltwt probably exceeds you tow vehicle weight. Check previous posts about that.

If you dolly or flat tow pull the prop shaft off the axle flanges to stop you driving the transfer/gearbox. It'll help somewhat (maybe only slightly) with fuwl consumption and prevents any damage to the oily spinny bits.

4 nyloc nuts are cheap insurance.
