I have an engine block heater that I put on my recently installed 4.0 block. I purchased it from our hosts and looked throught the information provided but failed to see the recommended usage guidelines. Do I plug it in over night or in the morning an hour or two before using?

Thanks,

Mark,
The units we sell are thermostatically controlled, so you can plug it in before you retire for the eveing and it should be good to go when you arise the next day, power outages excepted- of course.

Les,

Thanks for the reply. To what temp does the heater actually warm the coolant. I bought it so that the very cold mornings would not be so hard on the new engine. I know that the heater may not ne required for the area I live in but I thought it would be a decent investment to prolong the engine life and have a warmer drive in the mornings. Any additional info is helpful.

I have the genuine block heater (made by Philips Temro) and the directions said to plug it in 2-3 hours before starting. So I plug it in a timer.
