Center Under-seat tool tray

I am looking for a center under-seat tool tray. I have an auxillary fuel tank under the driver's seat where the main tool box is normally housed, and I could use the storage space.

It does not appear that our hosts sell them, but I have seen them available elsewhere, albeit for a premium.

Does anyone have an extra they are interested in parting with, or a suggestion for fabricating one similar to it.

If you have or can make a small brake its a pretty easy project. It gets shallower towards the back (the floor of the tray is flat while the seatbox slopes rearwards) I made one for a lightweight not long ago as they have a different seatbox. Turned out great. Give it a shot.

I made one for my old SIII. Took an afternoon and a beer or six. Fun afternoon project.

Not on mine. There is a step down in the floor about a quarter of the way from the front It is a split level bottom. I guess there were at least 2 versions.

The only factory one Ive seen is like that pictured above. Not to say there couldnt have been others. Sounds cool, lets see some pics.

Mine is under a centre mounted cubby box and would take an effort to remove for a picture.

had a lazy saturday today folks, so sorry about not getting the picture up yet. i have to drop my wife off at the airport early in the morning tomorrow, so i'm planning a nice day of rover stuff. i will take a post a picture then.

I wonder if trays with the stepped bottom were designed for the 6cyl rovers. The motor sits about 3" farther back than on the four banger. The step may be to provide additional clearance to the transfercase.

The step up provides clearance for the mechanical brake cross bar. Maybe its a RHD vs LHD thing?

Mine is more like a swimming pool. It is mostly flat with a gradual up-ward incline about 2/3 of the way back. It also came off of a military SIIA Santana that was in Saudia Arabia.

Well, I saved myself about $175 and made a center seat tool box, as several suggested. Just finished - it's not pretty, but it serves its purpose...:thumb-up:
