What do you do with your Rover?

Got done pulling some firewood out today with a LogRite arch and got to thinking what others do with the most usefull tractors every made?

Gover was a daily driver for 6 years but now spends her time pushing snow, pulling firewood, and wheeling. How about you all?

    Cheers, Ryan

I pull mine around with our Yukon and have been trying to make it self sufficient, almost there.

Mostly, I've been using mine as a high tech '60's style storage system for crap in my garage.

I use mine as my weekend driver. Firewood, home depot etc. It did have my Miller welder in the back for a couple of years - made it ride a lot smoother.Ian

            Pis of plow mount

The plow mount is homemade and go's on and off the truck in about 2 min. It's held on by the two tow hooks and two bolts to the underside of the winch mount. It's nice and light and the weight of the plow holds it on. All I need now is a pully so the rope doesn't fray. You can't beat a rover for pushing snow.

            Here's some pics:

Thanks Iam making one for my 109 SIII. I used to put on Western snowplows for a dealer up here and made a very nice mount for my 1963 scout that look like a factory western mount. I would have bought one but by that time thay were no longer made. I have a meyers plow now Iam going to fab up to fit this rover.

Mine is driven daily as it is now my only personal vehicle since I was fortunate enough to sell my S-10. My wife drives a Venture van but that leaves shortly for a new replacement of some sort.

My two '66 II-A's are used for daily driving and transport, and for work. Mine hauls firewood, helps remove blown down trees from summer properties, hauls lawn mowers, weedwhackers, gravel and loam for lawn care on summer properties, and carpentry tools, sheetrock, lumber, etc., for caretaking projects. I can go days never going faster than 35 mph, and sometimes, just in low range.

One II-A has new tires, a galvanized frame, a Fairey overdrive, a Mansfield heater, better brakes and newer ancillaries, so it gets used also whenever I have to travel on the mainland for work.

Mine is a daily driver, but that's a misnomer insofar as she rarely runs every day. I'm trying to sell my back-up, an '07 FJ Cruiser, just to make life more difficult...woohoo!

Mines a daily driver and general runabout when the other vehicles aren't working. If it's dirty, heavy or smelly it goes in the IIA.

I have used her to commute 1000 miles a week in the Arizona summer and then yesterday drove her about 350 miles to take my malamute doggie up to Flagstaff for a day in the snow. Other weekends she'll take me off to the boonies for some camping or to haul my dh bike up into the mountains. It's also hauled masonry blocks and bags of premix mortar for home projects.

It's my go anywhere, do anything truck.

                            Mods:
                            - Bestop jeep seats for some more leg room and comfort.
                            - Tuffy center console
                            - Roverdrive.
                            - RM transfer case bottom plate.
                            - RM parabolics
                            - RM spin on oil filter adapter.
                            - Halogens lights.
                            - Electronic ignition and Magnecor leads.
                            - Some Funky Delco alternator with external mechanical regulator.
                            - Various electrical mods to add relays and fuses.
                            - Exmoor Trim molded floor, bulkhead and seat box mat.
                            - K&N filter for thrashing on the freeway.

In all it makes it a perfectly useable, fairly comfortable, reliable every day vehicle. And NO COMPUTERS!

                            Cheers
                            Gregor

i call mine PD. PD is my daily driver...i guess it's fortunant that i don't drive daily. but most of all it's my therapy. drinking beer, diagnosing failures and turning wrenches gives me inner peace. oh yea taking a road trip or two is theaputical also
