Its not a LW or even a cool 88, but its an ex MoD none the less.

You can see the MoD tag on the seat box, thats the only real id i have found, other than the fact that the engine is from a LW. The seat box could have been swaped out too, but the whole thing is brit army green underneath. (not the cheezy green you see in this pic)

Thats interesting. So did the Norwegian 109s all have front and rear tanks like that?

I agree with keeping the color scheme the way it is. Looks great!

By the way, don't forget to keep that pintle nicely lubed up. Mine kind of froze up on me just recently. It's never fun to figure that out when you need a pull out of a frozen river. :o

It was his toy when he lived in the UK- It is a fun truck- it has a 3.5l SD1 V8 in it, RR diffs, Rear detroit- Typical UK plaything. :D

The Rims are regular US spec 15" ones though- Came off of my old series 3 or maybe one of my IIa's. He still has a set of military rims and tires somewhere but the current tires are for play.

first two are PA Blanchards work - they do some interesting work with ex-MOD. Cant recall the specifics on the IIAs, but resto'd to a high level for US buyer(s). Heres a few more of the same trucks.

http://home.att.net/%7Ealacritylost/Cherry_Military_109_Interior1.jpg

http://home.att.net/%7Ealacritylost/Cherry_Military_109_Interior3.jpg

The second two are BAOR 109s - FFR and the '77 109 CL - not GS as I originally posted - I currently have. Its a German Spec Civvy that spent its time in Dusseldorf (least it was full of squaddie trash from there). Pretty clean low use truck

Few others

Not sure about that, but doing some investigation recently most had aluminumum rear tanks with steel front tanks. mine is long gone (badly rusted) and will be replaced during the rebuild.

luckyjoe, that is a very clean looking rover you have :) :)

That photo was taken shortly after the PO's importation. All nice and cleaned-up by Blanchards. At the time they really had access to the cream of the crop, low-mileage UK trucks. Mine is a nice, rock-solid example of a period truck in original condition, not a restoration. I'll find a good shot of it today - a little more weathered, as all LR's should be...

Glad that you like them. Unfortunatley the 69 109 p-up has sat a little long and I need to spend a bunch of time getting it going again when I am back in Maine next. Made the mistake of trying to start it BEFORE checking on how old and nasty the fuel was.

If I post a bunch more I will re-send the link!

Just picked this up for almost nothing. Ok, it was free to anyone who would tow it away.
Started up after ~3 hours and a wheel/master cylinder rebuild later, she drives like a champ. Now I'm touching up the camo and getting all the lights working correctly.

Lanerover,
Great piccies. One question. In the pictures of your blue 66 SWB it has 8 spoke wheels. Do you know who made them where they came from? My new 67 109 has the same wheel by the look of it but only came with 4. I want to get one for the spare. Of course, I have great plans to put on 110 steelies eventually but that will have to wait until I have done a lot of other fun things to the truck.

Cheers

The wheels came with the truck when I bought it and I do not have a spare 8 spoke either! I do not know who made them but next time I am in Maine I could take a look! That won't be until the end of May though.
