G'day All,

Alright... If you recall... a couple of weeks ago I had a code that came up as 4th gear incorrectly selected. I re-set and it does come back occasionally. No where to check fluid or anything.... so do I need a trans service? Any suggestions?

The main thing though... I do have codes 171 and 174, left bank lean and right bank lean. This will clear but as soon as you start driving... it will come right back.
What can I do to correct this?

Any help is appreciated.

I had the same codes about a year ago.......mass air flow sensor......trip to have the adaptive setting reset, fixed it. MAS are expensive. Good Luck

I agree with the previous post, a 4th gear code can mean MAF, but it can also mean filthy transmission fluid. If the fluid is clean and not burned, I personally would start with the MAF, but I can't think of a way to test it without putting in one that works and see if the code goes away. If you have a trusting friend with the same car you could "borrow" their to see if it solves the problem before you invest in a new one. Personally, I'm a fan of used parts, and I bet an ebay part would cost less than half of a new one. Anyway, the part is an easy swap so I say go for a used one first! Best of luck!

Oh, and for the second part. I can't remember specifically what those codes are, but I'm assuming they are OBD II codes and refer to the emissions system only. I believe they are related to the O2 sensors, but I'm not positive. I have shamelessly pirated the list below from another site, and the previous person who posted them claim they are from disco I's. Anyway, I'm not sure how much the exhaust management system has changed between the models, so for what it's worth here they are!
