I am planning to put some Recaro buckets in my Series II 1965 109. I was thinking of skipping the standard seat rails and making a diamond tread aluminum plate across the seat box which would be removable for access to the transmission etc. Has anyone tried this method. I see no reason for the adjustable rails as I could never actually imagine moving the seat up! I thought about using a metal brake to bend the ends and using a backer plate to bolt it a the side of the seat box, Any thoughts?
