    Reseting Check Engine Light

I need to reset the check engine light (not the service engine light) I have tried disconnecting the battery cable and I have tried putting the ignition to on,unplugging the computer for 5 sec and reconnecting neither of which worked. 97 NAS Defender 90 automatic

You do know not to unplug the battery for at least 2 minutes after turning the truck off, right?

I use an Actron CP9125 scanner to read and reset the codes on my 97 D90 SW. It's about $40 at Amazon and cheaper on eBay. Well worth it in my opinion.

I am having issues with my 1994 defender, does that have an OBD2 in it or is it OBD? I remember seeing somewhere that it is OBD2 but I can not verify that and I want to get a code reader.

            Thanks,

            Alan

              1994 & 1995 Defender 90 NAS is OBD I.

1996 is the switch over year for vehicles to OBD II.

1994 Defender 90 has the diagnostic display unit (black box with red number readout) in the passenger toeboard area, this is also where the silver fuel injection relays are. Also, under the passenger seat on a 1994 is a toolbox.

1995 Defender 90 had these diagnostic items under the passenger seat.

OK, that is cool, I see the display unit, does anyone know where the codes might be posted?

                Thanks,

                Alan

Why's that? Never heard that before.
