TEMP GAUGE AGAIN

Ok, lets say I go with an aftermarket temp gauge and mount it next oil pressure gauge or under the dash. What is the better way to go electric temp gauge, or a mechanical gauge.:confused: I want something thats going too last once i install it. The reason, I can't seem to find the original style temp gauge that goes in my fuel and temp cluster, and if I can it is too expensive. So whats the best answer here from you guys, electric or mechanical, pros and cons. Also will I be able to find a sender that will fit into the land rover block.:D
