Nothing to add other than that that's an awfully nice looking truck. And in CT too? Lot's of nice old Rovers in CT.

aye, ludwig has been moved up to the top of the driveway now but still has his blocks, his parking brake works fine, but the blocks are there for good measure since mums jaguar is parked behind him :)

Here's my 109 soft top. Got the top from our hosts. Fits great. Keeps me warm and dry. I did change out the rope for the tailgate holddowns with bungie cord that I bought from an outdoor store. Easier to open and close.
Just got a Hard top and sides as well, primariliy for off road as I don't want to tear up the softy.

I've owned both a Land Rover top [purchased used] and now have a Rovers North top on both of my II-A's [I convert them to soft tops in the summer]. The Land Rover top last a long time, fit very well, but eventually began to wick and leak. I did buy a canvas waterproofing product from Rovers North that ended the wicking; when I sold the top, it was still functional.

I bought my current tops through Rovers North and both seal up and tighten up fine. The stitching and windows are well done, too. I applaud the use of the bungie cord in the rear - the ropes supplied are simply too short and they're always soaked or muddy when I need to undo them.

The best tops I've ever seen are those created by Chris Laws of Badger Engineering. The stitching work is spectacular, the straps are leather, and the fabric looks terrific. The quality is reflected in the price but if you have the funds, they're quite impressive.

Speaking of softtops...Does anyone know how to keep the front windsheild corners from opening up? Mine seem to loosen and open up especially on the highway.

Meh,
Windscreens are for woosies. It's the bugs you have to watch out for. You ever wonder why bikers never smile? It's not because they're dead 'ard.

My wife won't go near it any more.

I want....

I found that out the hard way, no bugs in the teeth but had a huge blow fly hit me on the tip of my nose and leave some of its little black hairs in the skin.

...and the top is about 15 years old in that picture!! The thing I really like about the Badger top is the oversized windows.

I believe this is a Land Rover top. It has brass eyelets and brass strap hardware. I like it but they seem to be unavailable and quite expensive if you find one. Of course I don't know much about this top so someone else may recognize that it indeed isn't a LR top. I like it either way. I recently treated it with Canvak and it has no leaks whatsoever. :thumb-up:

Has Badger renewed production of Series tops? I called Chris a number of years ago and was told they weren't available and likely wouldn't be for the foreseeable future. Badgers not the only one that does over-sized windows.

I've got one of these - kinda. They're very nice.

Today, Chris quoted me a price of $2,295 for a 109 LWB top with windows, with a 7 to 8 week lead time. Looks real nice but I've got to get one now.

Wise Owl hasn't finished up their deal with their supplier. So they are out too.

Pangolin4x4 didn't get back to me. The only thing I saw on the site was a 88 setup for $1,300.

Needless to say, I placed my order with our hosts today - $1,300 canvas and hoops, at my place in 2 days. Looks like I'll have something to do this weekend:)

I called around about a new top recently.. Ike (Pangolin) is pretty busy and hasn't made any tops lately and it seems like he won't have time in the near future. I called RN to order a Land Rover top but they said they are out of stock and then told me that LR isn't making tops anymore. I called BP and spoke with a guy that recommended the Exmoor. I ended up ordering a canvas top from Exmoor and it should ship the 28th of this month. I will post pictures and a review if there is interest.

Amongst the 101 crowd the people who have the best reputation for canvas are Undercover Covers in the UK.

http://undercovercovers.co.uk/

Their tilts are top quality and the prices are competitive. Unfortunately their sales department is awful as I've been trying to order a canvas since christmas and just can't get a reply. They will, however, work with you on custom jobs and, if you feel rich, they even offer mohair as an option.

They used to be popular with the 101 club but quality dropped off. Things like straps put on squint, missing eyelets etc. It's a pain if you find something wrong and are then faced with shipping it back.

I bought an Exmoore canvas truck cab but I'm unhappy with it. I can't get it tight enough and the canvas poping is loud and unrelenting. Also a number of snaps pulled loose. Exmoore sent me new & improved snaps but I don't think I"ll bother to put the top back on. (I also bought trim peices for the front doors with their "Elephant Hide" material & I had to reglue every peice. They have offered me 10% off of my next order). Not trying to bash them but returning their items from CA is to much trouble.

Here is a pic of a top I once owned but sold to this LR owner. I originally purchased it from Paddock in the UK. It was brand new, never installed.

The new owner claimed the fit was very good..Talbot
