I've got a kodiak MKIV. The motor is shot, everything else is in good shape. Anyone replaced theirs with a newer unit? If so, what did you use, and where did you get it?

TerriAnn's site mentions that the motor and cage from a MKIV is a Ford part, but she doesn't know from what.

Thanks,

Have you considered getting the original rebuilt locally? Good chance you'll get a better product and possibly a better price.

No. In my experience, it costs more to have the motor rebuilt than to find a suitable replacement. Generators/alternators are one thing, fan blower motors usually are'nt worth the effort.

You could probably make almost anything work.

Try this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1975-ford-granada-fan-blower-motor-w-ac-nos-ford_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el124 7QQcategoryZ34197QQihZ016QQitemZ260200716273QQrdZ1 QQsspagenameZWD1V

Or just go to your local auto parts store and ask them to start looking up blower motors off Fords from that era.

I'm in the same boat with my Smith's heater motor. I was considering getting the unit rebuilt, but I think I'll browse one of my local junk yards first. To quote jp-: "You could probably make almost anything work."

If it's a smiths buried in the wing I know the motor from an mgb fits. I think Moss sells them. I've never had the round or square in cab heaters so can't tell you about compatibility with those.

Cheers

I think our hosts have that motor. It's the non squirrel cage one. It was in the latest RN news.

Or if you want even greater sticker shock check holdens in the UK. Ouch.

Wow that went up in price. I got one from there about 5 years ago and picked it up for about $40-$50. I guess the dollar is finally starting to bite.

Did anything ever come of this? Did you find a replacement?

Napa has one just like it, but smaller for only $30. Doubt it will work, but it is a mirror image.

I need one too, and the two types sold at RN are not what I need. It is for the Kodiak MkIV.

Have any auto electric specialists in the area? Take in to them. If they can't fix it maybe they can find a replacement.
