Please see photo. kind of worrisome when you think about a spark somehow getting into the rusted hole. No idea how long I drove around with it like this but did not occur overnight.

Assuming you are going to trash that tank, I would love to buy the filler neck off you.

If I go back with the same style tank I am going to keep it. If not, I will send youi a PM.

By the way, fuel sender is frozen. Any ideas what to soak it in to free it up?

Why, WAXOYL 120-4 is the best.
Or Marvel Mystery Oil, as a substitute.

and by whew, it means glad you found the hole, not whew from the gas fumes.

Your worry would not be from a spark entering the hole, but the vapors emitting from it and a spark igniting those vapors (including static electricity). Most folks have no idea how powerful and explosive fuel vapors are until too late.

Good luck!

I'm sure the tank can be repaired by a good radiator shop. Soaking the sender in Mystery Oil may work. I guess I was lucky, mine came right out!! If you have it repaired, have the shop shot pean the inside and seal it before install. Good Luck !!

You may have already found out, but that's an MOD Tank (fuel tank, not tanktank) and they are VERY expensive and pretty rare. Repair it. It's possible to adapt an outside fill civy tank, but a pain.

Might try the fix mentioned in this post by 917601: http://www.roversnorth.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3825

I have used the POR 15 products myself and have found them to be good performers!
