RN has a snorkel that will work on a series with some gizmodgery, and the next one that comes in the boat is reserved in my name.:thumb-up:

For a long time I had a contraption that the locals thought was a snorkel. It was not! It was mounted on the front of the truck which is right where the bow wave would be highest. Bad design for a snorkel but great place for a ghetto-fab air filter.

I'm just posting these pictures to give you some ideas about home made bodjery. This one consisted of a Range Rover Classic air filter, some PVC plumbing, a short piece of radiator hose (flexible to connect to the carb) and a piece of copper that I bent into a bracket of sorts.

Keep in mind that every bend you throw in the air line will restrict air flow. Mine developed a dead spot on hard acceleration but that was toward the end of it's life. I think the radiator hose was beginning to collapse from the vacuum effect...

Any way, these shots are just for ideas on home made filtering.

I'll try to dig up more pictures if I can find them but search the forum for snorkel. I believe this topic has come up a few times before.

Cheers!

with some pvc i was thinking of routing it to above the windscreen such that it will still allow the screenn to be dropped. i just don't want to cut holes in my wing

I'm in the process of installing a used Mantec Defender snorkle to my 82 Lightweight. Click here for a two pictures of it - http://web.mac.com/eelwyn/Pokey/Home_Page.html

Still a work in progress as I now need to connect it to a filter and run it to the carb, but the exterior work is done.
