I'm hoping someone may want to part with- or know if a parts supplier that can get an interior dome light assembly for a Series II. I haven't seen one but they are apparently longer/larger than the Series IIa/III interior dome lights that most people are used to seeing. I think the part is NLA. Would prefer NOS part or one in very good condition as it's the last part needed for a nut and bolt restoration. Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Any hint of a part # would be useful just in case I come across one on my eternal quest for interesting parts.

Cheers

Thanks Gregor- I'll see if I can come up with it.

According to my data, the original part number was 265295, now S/S to STC251, interior lamp.
My Series II book lists only the 265295 part with the 320608 lens (glass), that still fits the STC251.
Anyone know differently? I am always willing to know of any black holes in my knowledge.

Any chance that it is similar to a late Series I part? I haven't had a Series I, so not sure if it was even an option then?

There are some Series II specialists in the UK, and of course there is Dunsfold for the Series I stuff.

Les,
The correct part number is 340704 and 320607 is the lens. 514900 is the sparto version.

JP - It is the same as the series one wagons

...as you can tell, it has more than 2 D cells providing superior interior illumination.

A required item in any vehicle of British origin. Your style may vary.

But doesn't it hit your head when going around corners when attached to the ceiling?

Actually I think that the Rover domelight has got to be the brightest bulb on the vehicle. I wish the one in my Volkswagen was that bright at times!

Ike,

According to the data I have, 245385 and 340704 Lamps are round and not the oblong style, as fitted to the Series II and IIa, and 107" Ser I Station Wagons.
All are interchangeable, though this would depend on the end authenticity.

Les,

They dont look round to me . . . 340704 with integral switch on the left, 265295 on the right. It is pictured in the early optional equipment catalog under cab trim (pg 165). Every SI and SII station wagon (or deluxe cab) I have owned or seen came with this lamp. James taylor shows this lamp in an 86 wagon in his original series one book and what looks like a 265295 in a 107. Of the three 107 wagons I have seen with their dome lamps in tact, all had the 340704. Its possible different markets got different lamps and that there is an early round dome lamp. I havent seen one though. Do you have a picture?
