relocating at cooler lines

anyone relocated or replaced the hard lines to the tranny cooler?

it's a 94 LWB

maybe with braided?

i'm trying to tuck a winch between the frame rails and the winch is 2 inches too big. tray fits, but the winch housing and the hard lines to the cooler want to live in the same space.

can I cut the hard lines at the crossmember and use hose? forsee any problems...other that the truck catching fire when they burst.

I want to mount my winch "way the hell down there" but does two lines get totally in the way.

Sadly finding metric fitting for braided lines in the USA is almost impossible, at least it was a few years back when I try to modied a oil cooler for my BMW motorcycle..

I try everywhere, speed shops, industrial supply, airplane shops, I end up cutting the metric fittings and welding SAE fitting to the Oil cooler.

This time I think I'm going to go Low tech, cut the tubes, braze a "One way" Hose connector (sorry I don't know the name, the ones with triangular shapes that let you stick the hose in but make it almost impossible to come out) and then hose clamp it really well.

I'm going to make a much of my bummer really soon, I show you mine if you show me yours.

Hydraulic specialists in the UK can make them but they are quite expensive (about £100 a hose at a guess).

If anyone did want to spend that sort of money I can look into it.

There are vendors that offer just such a kit. Don't think our sponsors here are one of them though. I know of two that do...

i had to re-route the at cooler lines to get around an oil sump. i cut the old lines and then double flared them with a 1/2 inch brake line nut. then i had some hydraulic lines made to fit in between. the ends of the hydraulic line were expensive but i don't think i'll need to worry about bursting

They are fairly low pressure lines, hose clamps work fine.

No they don't! They may last a while but will pop off at some point. I know because I've had to do a temp repair on mine. :p
