Can I use a 109 CV master cylinder for a clutch master cylinder? My 1966 SIIA 109 currently has the CV type master cylinder for the clutch, but I see the replacement calls for the CV master for the 88".

88's and 109's have the same clutch system. The only difference in master cylinders that I'm aware of is around 1969 when LR went from the clutch master cylinder with an external reservoir to one with the reservoir built on.Originally posted by poko

Thanks for the info, but I guess my question is; Is the CV master cylinder used for the brakes, the same master cylinder that is used for the clutch system on a 109? Or is there a difference in an 88 and a 109 clutch master cylinder?

Are you confusing something like the CB with it? rn lists 88" RNC752 109 RNC753, the variation with the resevoir RNF289
RNC752 is used on the clutch up to 1968 it has the external resevoir. RNF289 has the integral resevoir and is 1969 on.
for brakes the 88 uses the CV RNC752 for '67, '68. 109 uses RNC753 for '69 on.

you need RNC752, unless someone has changed things and put a later one on? you should have a separate resevoir made like a tin can (may be plastic) that holds the fluid for the brakes and clutch in common?Originally posted by poko

That's what I thought, there are two different master cylinders, one for an 88 and one for a 109, and I have to use the 88 master cylinder for the 109 clutch.Comment
