My '97 tdi300 had 'stuck diff lock' syndrome, but thanks to the advise of you guys, this is now fixed and everything is right.

I thought it might be helpful to tell you the grease that I used. Optimol Paste white T. This stuff is really sticky and is designed for 'base and thin film applications', it is water resistant, inhibits fretting corrosion and stick slip', Long term seperating and lubricating effect'.

I bought it last year to grease the splines on my BMW m/cycle's rear drive shaft. Optimol ain't cheap at about £6 UK for a tube of 100g but I'm pretty sure this stuff is perfect for the job.
