Preventing rust from starting on new door hinges

I bought a set of D90 door hinges from our hosts to put on my Series III in order to mount Defender side mirrors. The hinges are not the non-corrosive alloy used on the newer Rovers. How can I best prep these so they won't rust (as much)? I thought about coating everything in a Rustoleum primer before painting. Is there more I can do to seal them up?
    Thanks-
    .

i dont know what he means by "plate them" but i would just hit them with a good heavy coat of the rust olium primer (brown color) i think its called factory grade or some thing. it works great use it all the time. if you really want them to never rust and your near CT there is CT galvanization.
        Good luck,

Plate them with zinc, cadmium etc etc. Spray paint isnt going to do much, especially on a part that sees movement.
