Hi,

Don't know if this is the place but I need one amber and one red military screw on tail light. I understand they are no longer available so is someone out there hording or do they have any ideas on how to get some.

Also, has anyone tried to build a LEDs for the screw-on lights. It doesn't seem like it would be that difficult or expensive but I don't really know. I was wondering if I bought some LEDs, I could wire them up in the old metal screw on.

Any ideas?

Peace,
James

RN has some of the later large plastic lens' that are direct replacement for the early, fragile and thumb cutting glass ones:-

AAU1079NT Large red lens. $40.95 each
RTC1843NT Large amber lens $30.45 each

Good stocks on both of the above.

They are NEW TAKE OFF, so may have the odd mark on them.

Please advise,

Regards

There are LED replacements for bayonet-type bulbs (Providing that the system is 12v). You could but a LOT of incandescent bulbs for the price of one of these, though: http://www.ultimateautoaccessories.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SRCH&&Search=CTGLED

Edit: These people are MUCH cheaper: http://discountleds.com/3157_3156.htm End edit.

For parts to build your own, you probably won't do much better than these folks:

http://www.mpja.com/products.asp?dept=116 They have some cheap G4-compatible lamps at the bottom of the page.

Another edit--If I remember, there is some issue with using regular flasher relays with LEDs--Can't remember the details, though.

I believe you are correct in the flasher unit with the LED lights. ECR did a lot of work to solve the issue. check their website for the 90 ones and search d-90.com for the thread.
