Anybody know where I can get an air cleaner to connect to a raised air intake? with inlet and outlet fittings. similar to this:

I have everything else I need. To be used on a 2.25L petrol.
Thanks

I'm not sure about anything of that particular shape but anytime I hear heavy duty air cleaners being mentioned I think about farm or construction equipment suppliers.

Why not use a rover filter housing? The photo shows the one that came with the MoD 2.5 NA diesel I bought from Les when he still had a loft. The base of the housing is missing in the photos (and in my garage, too).

A regular intake hose as used on the 2.25 Petrol connects to the filter outlet on the top of the filter canister and would run to the carb.

Or you could modify your existing oil bath. Easy to do, especially if you want to come down throught the bonnet. If you want the inlet to come in from the side it's a little more involved but still not difficult. Either way in involves a little bit of 2 1/2" exhaust pipe and some time.

The air cleaner you show pictured seems to be dimensionally the same as my 1979 Ford 340 loader. It has both the inner and outer filtration elements and appears to load the filters the same from the end. The assembly picture shown appears to be plastic, and my OE setup is metal. Here is a web picture of the tractor. Perhaps there is an equipment wrecking yard near you. Those are always fun to rummage through.

On this topic, can anyone point me in the direction of the air filter assembly for a Defender to fit to my Snorkel set up I'm doing on my Lightweight? I want to run an inline cylinder style Defender filter and while the links within this thread are interesting, I'd like to use a Defender one. Would be happy to buy on RoversNorth, but can't seem to find a model #.

Thanks!

Make sure you guys calculate your CFMs. High reving engines like these use more air than you think and you'll need a fairly large capacity filter. Don't choke yourselves down trying to save space.

The Filter used on the Defenders is the same as used on pre '95 Range Rovers so you shouldn't have any trouble finding one. Try the usual guys parting them out.
