there is a warn xd9000i for sale somewhat locally (craigslist) that comes with a mount for a reciever hitch. It is claimed to be brand new but does not come with a controller. How hard is it to find a controller and wires for this model? and is it worth the asking price of $750 without the wires and controller?
Thanks

i wouldn't pay 750 if the winch is used, you could get a new complete winch from a different company for less than that. I love both warn winches I have but I got both free. you could try milemarker or super winch

yea the add really does not do a good job of describing its condition or at least providing pictures. http://newhaven.craigslist.org/pts/924851377.html

How do the superwinches and milemarkers compare to a t-max? They seem similar in price but i have never seen any of them in action.

i wouldn't buy any which for any price that came on a rcv'r mount without the controls and wiring. it's gotta be stolen. who loses the controller and wires?

I'll second Ike here.. Warn 8274. There is always one on ebay and it's a proven design. Parts still available for even the oldest ragged out looking one you can find. Expect to pay for one though. I missed an 8724 a few months ago that I could have had for $350!!!

Wait and hunt around for a used 8274, they work great and look right on a Series Land Rover.

I agree with what they said, if its in Branford then there is a possibility it was stolen. I have the winch the 8274 was based off of, and it works great, and it looks right on a series rover. they are capable of holding more winch line, pulling faster, and can be modified heavily with 2 motors even for more line speed under load.

I've had 3 8274's and you can't beat them. Look around, I never payed more than $150 for them. Ya they need work but a few hundred bucks in parts you have a brand new winch that costs $1200 off the shelf.

Superwinch is right in Putnam CT, some winches are made right there, some are made in china. Take a look on the box or ask the salesman where it is made, one may be better than the other.

Just don't cheap out on a mount or winch line. I have seen both brake and it never turns out good. Make sure it's a nice strong mount and go with the plasma line if you can (you can't beat it).

Cheers.

...Warn 8274. There is always one on ebay...

I thought I'd test that out. Sure enough there is one for $400:
