I'm new to Land Rover's! I need some help identifying the one below, if anybody would be good enough to help.:)

I should add that I live overseas and I'm interested in acquiring this vehicle for a bit of restoration fun!:thumb-up: I live in Myanmar (Burma) and there's loads of these on the roads out here, but many have been chopped about over the years, many have been retrofitted with Toyota diesel engines etc.

Here's what I know about it according to the "offcial" paperwork:-
1) Approx. year of manufacture is 1968
2) Chassis Number 36160354
3) Engine Number 36101151
4) 226(6) cc engine (not 100% sure about that last "6").

Here's some pictures:-

If anyone could tell me what it is exactly I would be very grateful. The official paperwork out here is notorious for being wrong, people frequently slip the examiner some cash under the table to change the year etc. so they can get more money for the car.

I know that many parts have been changed, some you can see in the photos above, I also know that it needs some work. It is however "driveable" and I'd like to have a look around at what spare parts etc. are available before I make a decision on whether or not I should buy this. That task is made all the more difficult by not actually knowing what the model is and not being able to trust the paperwork!

I'd appreciate any help.:)

CalVIN result is
1953, Series 1 80 in, basic body, RHD export market

It looks like they have grafted a SIII breakfast and headlight panels into the series 1 wings. I can't tell you much about the engine other than to say it is not the classic SIIA/SIII 2 1/4.

It is an 80 inch land rover that has had the front sheet metal modified to resemble a series three. Someone even put vents under the windsheild. Has a lot of non original features like the fully floating rear axle etc) The engine is a 2.0L rover motor. It does have the rare vinyl flooring option in the rear loadspace. Someone would pay big money for that on ebay.

If I go for this (and I want to), I'd like to be able to make sure I can get parts.;)

As for the "rare vinyl", that's not for sale. I couldn't possibly part with such a historic item.:p

The 2.0L still has parts available in the UK. www.dunsfold.co.uk (http://www.dunsfold.co.uk) should have everything you need.

They started in 52 and were used throughout the series one production run into the early series twos. Parts are available from a limmited number of suppliers but very expensive.

www.dunsfold.co.uk . . . .doesnt have any parts for anything and http://www.dunsfold.com/ has an increasingly limited selection of parts for series ones.
