Apis Mellifera

Last weekend I made the trek to our farm in rural WV. It's a mixed on/off road drive with about 4.5 hours worth of highway up and back. We have a chalet in the center of the property which overlooks the farm and surrounding area. This is the real WV. Wide open spaces and you'll note not a single mobile home or car on blocks as far as the eye can see. Monday it rained all day and the red clay road up the hill turned to slick, sticky goo. Last night is snowed. I snapped the last shot at dawn this morning
A few weeks ago I replaced my old dying gearbox with a secondhand unit and it seemed to work during limited in-town driving. Unfortunately, I've now discovered that it repeatedly jumps out of 4H-first under load. In 4L-first same thing. In 4L-second, it's fine. In 2H-first on asphault it's fine or at least has jumped out of gear yet. It was also very loud on the drive home in all gears but 4th. This has me concerned because I paid a lot of money for the gearbox-twice what I was prepared to pay-, but I was desperate and now it appears as though I've traded one problem for another. Before R&R of the gearbox, I replaced all the oil seals and gaskets and did a general inspection of the "new" gearbox. All looked OK. I fitted new detent springs as well. I also have Warn hubs. Any ideas?
Pictures of an otherwise great trip:
