looking for ex-mod wiring diagram

Help, newbie looking for neg. earth ex-mod wiring diagram. PO changed over to alternator. open hood and there are extra wires all over the place, along with harness. PO include bible with hand written changes for alt. My problem is with the lights cant seem to find any thing on 6 position mod switch. Lights stopped working :( ,brake lights & directionals still working.checked the oblivious. any links or other advice would be great

If your truck has an infra red relay (should be a switch on the dash if it has one) check that and bypass it. On 101s and I presume lightweights too any conversion to halogen headlights puts too much current through the relay with the resulting lack of lights. The 6-way switch is a pretty heavy duty item and unlikely to be your issue.

This will be "one of" if not the best $21.51 you will ever spend, the reading and technical diagrams are stellar.

I'll ditto this. I have the blue book version of this for 24 volt and I spend more time with this book than I do any of my other manuals. Excellent diagrams, procedures are written very clearly, and specs are very easy to find. I sleep with it under my pillow. :p

I have taken peoples advice and ordered the manual. The PO also gave me SIII user handbook from mod issued 4/79. so I hope that the new one is more relavant for a '65 SIIa. I still think that I need to clean up or rewire the main harness and dash. Is there any place to buy a new harness for my landy that has been convert to alt, electric ign., and full gauge package. Or is customizing one my only option. At least it running good and I can drive it during the day for now.LOL

I have this manual, and although it's full of great information, the wiring diagrams did not match my '65 GS109 (12V). It's still a good place to start...

Ex-MOD Rovers can be a real barrel of laughs when it comes to the wiring. What was your truck originally used for? Was it 12V or 24V? FFR or an ambulance? Given that it's already been through at least one pair of civilian hands, the changes in your harness could be drastic. Often going back to the original scheme doesn't fix things - after all, the DPO was trying to fix something wrong when he hacked it to bits.

I hate to say it, but for sanity's sake (and for the sake of being able to find the parts you need at all) you would probably be better off going with a new civilian type harness that fits your truck, and changing out your switches. In the end, you'll be happier (especially since you'll still have your hair). If you have any neat-o military electrical items, you can wire them separately as accessories.

If you must fix the old, my suggestion is to buy a test light, continuity tester and volt meter, then practice using them. Those old MOD harnesses usually had cloth covered wires which have all faded to a rather uniform light brown/dark brown color configuration. And even the best diagrams won't help you when the harness has been "customized".
