View Full Version : Love My Mt Mansfield

Just a quick note to Les @ Rovers North and to all other Series Land Rover enthusiasts out there regarding my Mt. Mansfield heater. I know this is a frequent topic on this board, so now that winter is here (in Michigan, anyway) I can let you all know how well it works. I just got my vehicle back on the road this past summer after a 4 year comprehensive restoration, and I struggled with the cost of the Mt Mansfield, but I have no regrets now.

Before I restored my Land Rover, I had a classic Smiths round heater, which looked cool but, frankly, sucked when it came to battling a Michigan winter. So I sold it to a guy restoring a Morgan and bought the Mt. Mansfield. It's like having an imaginary, massless duct of infinite length pumping hot air directly from a volcanic vent, minus the toxic gases, of course. And, unlike the Smiths heater, it actually defrosts and demists my windows since it has a fresh air intake. No more squeegeeing! If you're on the fence about the Mt. Mansfield and afraid to take the plunge, I encourage you to open your wallet and get one. Mine works great.

Happy Holidays to Land Rover Drivers Everywhere,

What's the price on one of these?

I realize they are offered in a couple of different forms, but how about for a IIa, and in all forms.

RoversNorth personnel?

Thanks,
Gary

Just curious: how does the presence of the brake booster relate to the heater units ?

Best regards, Andrew

We use this as a rule of thumb, to determine that a Smith's heater (engine bay mount style) was fitted (post booster fitment) as compared to a Kodiak II/III/IV, pre-booster fitment.
Hope this clarifies my previous post.

Guilty as charged, Steve. I've been a RN customer for about 14 years now, and I read the board often, but I'm more of a lurker. However, I accept your challenge and will attempt to remedy this this weekend.

Are you in Michigan?

good to hear another praise for the heater.

we discussed this on another thread and I admit, your description is much better than mine!!

not sure if I were as convincing.

I too would agree completely with the effectiveness of the Mt Mansfield. I dare say anyone who has one would also agree. It might be easier to ask for a show of hands of anyone who has or had one that was NOT happy with it. (sound of crickets chirping)
