My truck has been a Florida beach truck and has some considerable corrosion. I am considering removing the windshield and driver / passenger area roll cage to have repainted. Has anyone done this before? Any hidden headaches or tips? I imagine it will be a bear to get the side bars (above the doors) out of the sleavss due to corrosion. (rubber mallet and strong language?)

Thanks in advance.

Spray all bolts and the area where the roll bar slides into the B-pillar with liquid wrench, and give it a couple days to set in...

Good suggestion, also you could try Kroil http://www.kanolabs.com/.

The support under the front wing where the cage bolts to this will be the most challenging, no doubt. Here is the Land Rover illustration of the Defender 90 NAS lower cage to help you along. Area in red is of concern.

Don't forget to use Waxoyl 120-4 after you have removed loose corrosion, repainted and reassembled.
