View Full Version : New Fender Flares...

So I picked up a set of Series fender flares from a fellow forum member who had a friend bring them over from the UK. I was originally trying to find some D90 flares...but those needed to be modified and these fit perfect. I also like that the are somewhat rounded off. Please note, I am still in the process of installing them...currently just getting them lined up how I want before I actually install them so they may appear to have a slight gap here or there. I still really like the original look w/out flares so I'm still debating....but my wheels are barely outside of the bodyline, so rocks sling up against the side of the body. The flares will actually serve a purpose.

Just for reference...the rover is a D90 axle setup w/ coil springs (current 2.5" lift...about to be 3")....chassis is custom galvanized by Arrow services. 2.5L / LT77 / LT230

Opinions? Thoughts? Yay? Nay? :)

OH my god those are nasty!
Ruins the lines of a classic!

Take them off and send them to me to dispose of which I would be willing to do for free so they won't end up defacing on another rig!:D

except mine.;)

Woo, pretty Landie jewelry there! They should help you keep that lovely paint right where it should be, and not on the sharp points of some nasty piece of gravel. Me like lots!! :)

Thanks for the comments everyone. Words can't express how much fun it is owning a series rover.

They are 15" wheels.

Can you shoot some pics of your rear fuel tank? Did you build the rear filler sheet metal?

I like the flares. If they were shiny I don't think I'd be able to accept them but in satin they look pretty good. Nice choice!

Any info on that gas tank? Is that a landy item or something else? I'm getting sick of the fumes with the under seat tanks. :(

I guess I have to be the sole voice of dissent- I think it looks better without them- but it is your truck- you shouldn't worry what anyone else thinks- do what you like and enjoy it! :thumb-up:

Hmm...Usually I don't like the looks of fender flares on series rovers. To me they usually just don't look right, but on your truck they look great! Maybe I've only seen them on trucks with the original series axles, which seem to be too inboard for the flares.

Nice job, looks good!

The rear gas tank was a one-off custom fabrication. The rover has the rear as the main and the side tank as the reserve with the toggle switch under the passenger dash to toggle between the tanks.

I have always thought the same. But since my wheels actually were a bit outside of the bodyline, I figured they might bring it together a bit. I definitly like them. :thumb-up:

I was thinking that it looked like a 109 or 110 tank but I guess that would be wrong.

Cheers!

I like those allot. The Defender stick out so far and IMHO detract from the look of the Series vehicles. I hate to see how much those are.

I want.

Actually not bad in my opinion. Someone posted that you could buy them here....76.50 pounds for the set...roughly $112 USD.

Duh!
Now that I think about it. I believe I have the same manufacturer on my lightweight. Not sure though as the previous owner put them on.

They look pretty good but it's up in the air because I've got the standard series axles. If it wasn't for the wide offset of my five spoke wheels they might look really out of place.

A shot after some highway miles up to Winter Romp:

But there are a few more shots of them in the link.
