Can I make 4 pin into a NATO plug?

So I spent a few hours reviving the NATO plug on my lightweight so I can use it with a Sankey. Here is the question. Has any one been able to power a NATO trailer plug through a 4 pin that is standard here in the states? I don't need the fog lights or anything else to work, just the standard brake, turn and parking lights.

Asking because I have an externally powered 4 pin already wired into the truck and I like the idea of using the excess power from that thing rather than splicing the 12 pin NATO plug back into the system again and seeing my lights go all dim when I power them up. The original wiring is a bit of a mess and I don't really trust it to power a trailer all on it's own. ;)

I know it's not right but this makes sense to me. Unfortunately in practice things seem a bit off. The trailer lights are doing all kinds of weird things. :eek:

Thank you very much! That looks like what I need but I'll have to test my connections to make sure. Maybe tomorrow.

I think they are all sold or spoken for- at least that was the case at one point. KevinNY bought the one pictured here then sold it to Tim.

Just starting to fiddle with this wiring again so no results yet...will post my results though.

I'm also looking for a cover like the one on the right in the image below. If anyone knows of a source, please pass it on. The military tarps I've seen are way too big.

Okay, that was easy. :D

The code goes like this.

D and L goes to ground (white wire)
N (right hand indicator) goes to right hand (green wire)
M (left hand indicator) goes to left hand (yellow wire)
E (brake lights or tail lights not sure) as well as J and B (both fog lights) goes to tail light (brown wire) I don't know why but the lights didn't work at all right until I hooked up the J and B wires to the brown lead.In this arrangement I seem to be missing the correct brake lights. So I swapped out the orange lenses (which are now doing turn and brake) for red ones until I get this thing inspected. Later I'll rewire this properly... I'm sure. :rolleyes:

I'd post pictures if I had a working camera but I seem to be deficient at the moment.
