    Odd gauge light question

    Ok,
    I am goofy...

I am thinking about changing the clear, white lights that are in my interior gauges (Speedo, temp, charge, etc.) to RED.

Can anyone tell me if they have done this, and also where they found the bulbs?

    Best,
    Griswald

You must have better eyes than I do; the lamps are dim enough in white, let alone red .

In the past, I have seen little opaque, coloured french safes that go over the existing dash lights. As mentioned, they are dim enough already, as my night vision is not what it used to be.

Alright, seriously though, you can get colored bulbs that will probably fit at any auto parts store or radio shack. In addition you can also get little luminescent covers for the bulbs you have in a variety of colors (also at most auto parts stores).

Not sure, but this might be a good fit for those high powered LED's. I'm betting you would be able to find a red LED bulb to fit the regular bulb holder if you google around a bit.

I LOVED the red dash lights (one of the blackout settings) on my M38A1. I don't have a solution for you, but post an update (and pics)when you find one.

                You asked...

A quick McGoogle search revealed this.

All of my bulbs were either burnt out or too dim so I bought these prewired red leds from http://www.oznium.com/prewired-leds. Have to admit though that I haven't installed them yet.

                    Just paint them

I had to replace the red lights in my airplane istrument panel, Instead to the white $0.39 white bulbs, I ordered the $5.00 red bulbs. I got regular bulbs that were just painted red. They got me, but the lamps work fine. Now I just use a little red spray paint and I have all the cheap red lamps I need.
