    Front Wings

Can a front wing assembly from a 109 be mounted on an 88? If there are differences what are they?

Yes, they can be interchanged. The obvious differences are year related, not wheelbase related. The one exception is the wings off a stage one are different, on the engine bay side.

The differences, other than wing mounted headlamps in the later models are primarily in the inner wing panels to accommodate power brakes and for Defenders to accommodate the coil suspension.

My 1960 109 has a Series III left inner wing panel to accommodate the power brakes, and early European spec Defender outer wing panels because I wanted the larger Defender wheel arch without holes for side lights. So yes, you can mix and match wing panels.

Here's a comparison between the two panels

Behind me is the old stock outer wing panel and smaller tyres than are currently on my Land Rover.

Here is a picture with the Defender outer wing panel mounted. The tyres are a larger diameter than the one shown in the picture with me sitting in front. The Dormobile behind mine has the stock panel and smaller tyres.

And yes all the bolt holes lined up.
