I just got thru installing a new set of Mintex brake shoes on the rear axle of the Rover. For the life of me I can't seem to back them off enough so they don't rub constantly of the drum. The adjuster is turning and the post is on the adjuster cam like it is supposed to be. The drums were new when I replaced my rear axle a couple of years ago and have never been turned. I had problems when the axle was installed which I atributed to junk shoes but Mintex are supposed to be good. Any ideas?

years ago truch shops used to have brake grinders in order to take acessive friction meterial off of the linings, if they're not too far out ive used a sander and 80 grit taking just enough to clear the drums.....

The drums are in getting turned and I'll have them back tomorrow. If that doesn't help them it is the belt sander.

Do the shoes have a leading and trailing chamfers on the brake material?

I understand this can also help keep the shoes from grabbing and help them to seat better.

No they are pretty square cut. That may be one of the problems too.
