Oil seal between transfer case and gearbox

Is there an easy way to check this? I drained the oil from the transfer case and there was almost a gallon and the gear box had about a 1/2 a pint. I don't really want to have to pull the transfer case out.

I'd like to know too. Part of my routine fluid check is to remove the trnsfercase fill plug and let the excess drain out.

After driving it for a while it does this again, your fears are likely to be confirmed.

You might check to make sure the tranny vent is clear. If it is clogged pressure will build up and force oil out to tehe transfer case. Ptobably a bad seal, though, hate to say.
