Ok, so I'm upgrading to a Pertronix unit (d45 - i think) but I'm not having a good time getting thru to the customer service dept to find out which coil to buy - 1.5 ohms or 3.0 ohms and 40,000 volts.

Could someone with a 2.25 '68ish engine please respond as to correct model numbers for both the elec. dist. and coil?

Thanks

I went with stuff made for an electronic ignition. For instance, a 1970's dodge spec coil and ballast resistor. Cheap to get and can be found almost anywhere. Running it for about 4 years now.:thumb-up:

I'm getting ready to order a Pertronix Ignitor for my Lucas 45D distributor as well. The correct unit is the LU-144. This should work fine with the stock coil, which is 3 Ohm. However, last time I bought a Pertronix I also bought one of their 3 Ohm coils per their recommendation.

hey i just did my '68 negative ground and contacted Classic Garrage.com
they seemed to know stuff pretty well. I also got an epoxy coil. You will need the number off the lower front of the dist but they can tell you the rest.
