Hi, my name is Tim and I am new to the list. I am looking for a Series IIa(preferred) or III. I have tried searching the forums but cannot find what I am looking for. I need to find a list of things to look out for when buying an SIIa or SIII. I have a couple to look at coming up and I want to have as much info going in as possible. I believe in buying the best you can rather than buying a project and working months/years to get her sorted. Based on the lurking I have done the last couple of days I know to look out for frame rot, firewall rot, floor rot and of course obvious things common to all vehicles(exhaust, drips, shoddy body work, etc)

A little more about me. I have restored(frame off) and raced british sportscars so I am familiar with british steel, Lucas electronics and other bits that prove unreliable if not maintained properly. I have also rebuilt engines, transmissions and overdrives. I have experience with 4x4s(owned 3 Monteros in the past). Lately I have been doing more work on boats but want to get back to land based vehicles.

Present vehicles: '96 Audi A4q and '03 Nissan Xterra.

Thanks for all your help
Tim

Thanks David. Exactly what I was looking for. Great website too.

Another quick question: Do Bugeyes command higher prices?
