Hello all,
To make a very long story somewhat short, I have the opportunity to acquire 2 Rovers via trade, and I was wondering if you could help me out and give me some opinions on what the value of these vehicles are.

The first is a '67 Series IIA NADA 109 #336. It is almost completely stock with the exception of a Fairey overdrive and Warn locking hubcaps. Everything I can see in the photos and what I've gathered from the owner is that it is extremely solid, rust free, and in overall excellent condition other than needing a good wash, wax, and detailing. Tires are in good shape with the exception of the spare. Vehicle is not perfect, but no glaring issues that I am aware of.

The second is a '72 Series III 88, gas 4cyl. Excellent body, paint, and interior. Also comes with Fairey overdrive, Ramsey winch, brush bumper, galvanized roof rack, Fairey Superwinch overdrive, two barrel Weber carb with K&N filter, new tires, and Warn locking hubs. This vehicle appears to be the better of the two and really is in outstanding condition.

I apologize that I don't have the mileage on the vehicles, but I would say it's moderate at worst. I have no idea what these vehicles would be worth, other than what the owner has told me and what I've seen on NADAguides, which in my previous experience is a load of manure. I see a lot selling for over 10k, and some selling for under 5k, so it's kind of hard to tell what I'm looking at here. I do have about 6 pictures of each vehicle, but need to upload them to post them on here.

If anyone could give me a ballpark estimate of what these might be worth, I would greatly appreciate it.

GWN

Try to post pictures of the bulkhead, frame, outriggers, and rusty looking spots. They look ok but these pictures will tell more of the story.

These are the only pictures I have for now. Vehicles are currently about 6 hours from me...

You might want to consider Manhiem's Gold Book for rare vehicle values. Seems they have the best handle on value these days. FYI Here is what you find for a 1976 Series 3: So check the models you are looking at there.

I am in Anchorage. The vehicles are in F'banks, but may be in Anchorage this weekend. They will also be for sale in relatively short order.

Thanks. I checked out Manheim Gold, but they have all the series II and IIIs valued the same, with the exception of engine options. Not sure how much stock to put into that...

Got the mileage on the vehicles. '67 NADA is 90,000, and the '72 is 53,000.

Anyone have any other input on this?

On a 40 odd year old vehicle mileage is pretty academic to value as sitting idle can be just as or even more damaging to a vehicle.

The thing that will drive value are the condition of the bulkhead, chassis and on the 67 the T-posts which are the steel parts that form the structure behind the sill and the B posts.

Mechanical condition follows behind that and does have an effect on price as far as running/non running and the extent of any issues.

I won't comment on actual value as I'm not good at that.

Nice trucks-

Worth and value of trucks is kinda in the eye of the beholder- Lots of trucks out there for sale in the $8500-$12500 range, Some are fair priced some are way to high....(the price and the owners :)

Some would say you should be able to get a 90% rust free 88 for $7000 or less

The NADA wagon is a little more rare and has more value in my opinion.

I bought 2 109s in the last 2 years, 1 a Series 111 for $4000 the other was a NADA #2 for $5300 they both need work, both have a rusty outrigger but are "drivers"

I felt i got a good deal on both- Gotta find the right situation

Thanks for your post, this really helps a lot. I think I can get these Rovers priced fairly. Going to pick up the '72 tonight, and then will have the '67 in another week or so. I'll post up more detailed pics when I get them.

Its very hard to come up with value without LOTS of information or pictures. You really need to see the truck in person to run through the inspection.

FWIW, I like the 109" better. More rare and great looking - worn paint gives character too.

How much do they want for the both of them or do you have to make an offer?

I think both trucks look solid as far as we can see. Looks like someone went a little heavy on the spray-foam insulation under the hood on the 109! Thats also quite a "on board" stock on brake fluid! That being said, as was mentioned before, the bulkhead and frame (and breakfast) are the rear "value changing" parts which are the difference between the 4000 dollar truck and the 12000 truck.
