Howdy all, I am need of some help in selecting a ballast resistor for my truck.
I have an ex-MoD 24v truck. I installed a 24v to 12v reducer to run my ignition components on and got rid of the voltage regulator altogether. I converted the shielded ignition components to standard civilian bits and wound up getting an Accel super coil that has a primary resistance of 1.4 ohms and secondary 9.2 ohms, and realized it had no built in ballast.
I'm running points and from info obtained from a search is that the full 12v going to points is liable to fry them rather quickly. So I want to install a ballast resistor but don't know which one to get. I see the most commonly available ones are either .8 ohms or 1.4 ohms.
Since my coil is only 1.4 (I saw a few threads that stated it should be 3, ooops) which ohm ballast resister should I get to be a good match with my system?
Thanks!
