Wheel cylinders for 109 [Archive]

I need to replace the wheel cylinder on the front left of my 67 IIa NADA 109. I'm looking at the online catalog, and it shows that a specific wheel cylinder is necessary if you had a 6cyl 109...problem is, that wheel cylinder costs $200, as opposed to the exact same-looking wheel cylinder for a 2.25L 109 which costs $51. Is there really a difference between the two? I really hate to spend $200 on a wheel cylinder if I don't have to.

what is wrong with the cylinder? Frozen, leaking , scored? It might not be a bad idea to give these guys a call.

I just had my rear cylinders for the 109" done and they turned out great - and with a lifetime warranty you can't beat it.

Don't go by the pictures shown in the RN on-line catalog - they don't always match the actual product.
The 6cyl 109 front brakes use a wider shoe than the 4cyl, so the wheel cylinders probably have a different offset to them.

A 2.6 109 has the same brakes as a Stage One. Like stated, they have a wider shoe than the standard 2.25 truck. Look around at alternative suppliers...The can be had cheaper than that. And rebuilding is always a good option too!

Trevor at RovahFarm has Delphi 109" 6 cylinder wheel cylinders listed at $54 each. For that price, you might as well buy new ones.

Alright, well now I'm confused. I've looked at Rovers North website again, and I found a part number that comes up as a front wheel cylinder for a 2.6L 109 for $54. If you go to the brakes section from the main menu, that part number doesn't come up at all. Guess I will just give them a call on Monday.

The wheel cylinder is leaking, by the way.

The Land Rover part numbers are 600200 and 600201 for the cylinders. The rebuild kit is 600210, which is $54 from Rovers North.

I don't know why you can't get to them from the main menu, but I found that RN sells ProLine wheel cylinders for the 2.6L 109, their part numbers PLC599 & PLC600, for about $50 each. The RNC599 & RNC600 Genuine cylinders are $199 each.

That's the one. I actually called you guys and placed the order earlier this week, and received a clutch slave cylinder instead. PLB599 was the part number they sent me. They looked up the cylinder and quoted me a price of around $48, so I think that's it...I'll just need to send the clutch slave cylinder back and get the wheel cylinder sent. Too bad I paid for overnight shipping :(

I really like upgrading with the brass sleeves in the cast iron wheel cylinders and went with White Post for my 6 cyl wheel cylinders. I figure it's worth it for the long term durability.

They ended up being $80 each - bead blasted, sleaved, all new innards and guaranteed for life. ( oh, and I shipped them out on a Monday and they were back on my doorstep by Friday!)
Considering it would have cost me $50 a piece for new ones it seemed logical.
