wait just the opposite, right?

The 88 requires the filler piece, but the 109 does not...

Correct the top it the same. 88" trucks require a filler piece where the top hangs over the rear bulkhead. The rear bulkhead on a 109 is further back and lines up with the top, so no filler piece is needed.

... in either case, hi-back seats become a problem when fitting a p/u top.
