Radiator Re-core near Burlington, VT

You all were spot-on for advice on custom exhaust work (http://www.roversnorth.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7019), now I'm looking for somebody in the Burlington area that re-cores radiators. Nearly all the fins are gone, so it's time.

Last time I needed a radiator for a car I tracked down a place in Brattleboro and they laughed at the thought of re-coring a small car radiator and told me to just buy a new one. I assume re-coring is still the way to go with a radiator this size, but let me know if it's not and I'll just order a replacement from our hosts.

New is the way to go, they are cheaper than the parts and labor to rehab an old one if your is that far gone.

Kidder's in West Lebanon, NH did ours several years ago. Truth be known, I think it cost about 75% of new one.

Can't help with the original question, but....
When I restored my '63, I had my original 'big tank' radiator recored locally. The guy did a superb job (as he had done on my '68 Camaro radiator), but it was very expensive. The radiator required a custom core, which I believe they sourced from Maine Auto Radiator. The core alone was $475. Luckily, they felt bad about the cost and only charged me about $500 for the whole job.

I just had my original wide tank recored for my 66 IIA 88 petrol. It cost 200.00 and came out awesom. Call Sanford Radiator here in Maine and tell them Todd told you about the recore job they did for his land rover. They also have done great work for me with my 89 porsche.

Thanks for the suggestions all. I ended up ordering a new one (tax free) from RN and will swing the old by Beaudoin's Auto Radiator for an estimate once it's out. I'll probably end up just putting the old one in storage or recycle it, but it doesn't hurt to get the price.
