I have the typical cast elbow that goes over the intake of my carb. There is a rubber band around this part with a hose clamp but this does nothing to secure the elbow to the carb. How does this work?

Thanks

You are most likely missing the metal ring at the top of the Weber carb. They usually become loose over time.

Hmm, looked at some weber diagrams and do not see any metal ring. The elbow fits the top of the carb fine with no lateral movement but it is just gravity that is holding it on at this point. A good bump may dislodge it.

I can easily make a boot out of some bike inner tube and clamp it in place but thought there may be a "proper" way to fit these together.

So, do you have the short rubber adapter (hose) that goes between the elbow and the carb? There should be 2 clamps on this rubber adapter - one clamping it to the elbow and one clamping it to the carb.

I have the same setup on mine. I ended up cutting a strip out of an inner tube and contact cemented it to the inside of the elbow. Worked a charm.

Ok, so I think what I have is one half of this. The lower section(on the carb) and clamp are missing.

Next question is: Where do I get a new one?

And :-

1. RTC3502 Hose clamp.

All in stock

Thanks Les. Does that work with my Weber carb?

LRMAN,

If you take a look at the picture in this link of the Weber 34 ICH...
http://www.webernorthamerica.com/34_ICH_weber_carb.html

as compared to the Weber 34 ICT...
http://www.webernorthamerica.com/34_ICT_Weber_Carb.html

you'll notice a thick ring of metal around the top of the 34 ICH as compared to the top of the throat of the 34 ICT. I think that is the ring of metal jac04 was referring to. The ring on my carb has come loose again and I'm gonna epoxy it back on with some J-B Weld. I last used muffler epoxy and that lasted for a number of years. I'm hoping J-B Weld will last longer.

Best Regards

A cheap substitute for this can be found at the hardware store. This rubber connector is used for joining section of cast iron pipe. The rubber stands up to heat and chemical. trim, fit, and enjoy.:thumb-up:
