water temp gauge?

i currently am using an after market water temp gauge. might be picking up a used dash that has the electric water temp gauge where my fried amp meter use to be. are the sending units still available? are they more or less accurate/reliable than a autogauge with that permanately connected incased in that springing thing sending unit?

where the eletric gauges ever in the iia?
