Hello to all, I'm new to this Forum but do have some experience (limited) with Disco's. I have a 1997 Disco with 118K. When I'm driving and get above approx 50mph I will intermitently lose all power for 1-2 seconds. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Typically happens more on the freeway. Engine just stops, then fires back up, pretty scarey.
I have done the following and have been informed by a Disco "Guru" that I should look for moisture in the camshaft position sensor or replace. Any advice on investigating will be helpful.

Spark plugs fairly new and look good
Spark plug wires the same
New fuel filter
New VSS (made the speedo accurate but no change in problem)
I have approx 38 psi at the fuel rail
I think this Disco sat for a while. I added a can of BG44 no difference.
Thanks for the help

Looks like you need a new TPS. :)

Could also be the fuel pump giving early signs of reaching its "sell by date".
I had a similar experience on by 97 SD Discovery, turned out to be a weak fuel pump.
A new problem happened on the way back frm the All Metal Dash weekend, vehicle kept cutting out on corners. After re-setting the alarm by turning the key in the drivers lock 4 times, all appears well. Till the next gremlin comes out of hiding.....

vehicle kept cutting out on corners.
Seriously Les, you've got to keep all 4 wheels on the road, even in the corners. Must be that Grand Prix in you.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the input. My idle speed is around 1300 rpm for the most part. After driving for an extended period time it will go to 700 rpm. WHat about cleaning the mass air flow sensor????

Well I've ordered a throttle position sensor, we'll see how that works. Then it is on to the fuel pump. I've seem some forum talk where you can rebuild the fuel pump using auto zone part# master E3270. Anybody have a take on that subject?
Thanks
