P38/4.6/1999/HSE - I seem to be drawing a blank on this no matter where I go - Wiring diagram indicates that both the coolant sensor and the transfer case and yet to be checked "heated seats" all share the same earth. Well the earth for the above is not where the manual says it is, in front of the passengers seat (LHD), any help would be really great.
Cheers
Ken

P0118

Engine coolant temperature sensor input fault Drive cycle D:Signal out of range - above maximum.

Possible Causes:
Connectors C196, ECM C636 (B).
Open circuit - C636/22 (G) to C196/2 (G).
Open circuit - C636/21 (RB) to C196/1 (KB).
Engine cooling system problem.
Engine coolant temperature sensor fault.
1. Connectors C196, ECM C636 (B).

CONNECTOR
Check for connector not correctly latched, backed out pins, damaged pins, corroded pins
2. Open circuit - C636/22 (G) to C196/2 (G).

OPEN_CIRCUIT
Check resistance > 1M&!
3. Open circuit - C636/21 (RB) to C196/1 (KB).

OPEN_CIRCUIT
Check resistance > 1M&!
4. Engine cooling system problem.

CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
Check if the engine does not fully warm up within the normal time.
Check that there is not a problem with the cooling system thermostat sticking open.
NOTE: - the diagnostic will flag a fault if the coolant temperature does not rise at the expected rate.

P1703.

Also the ECM module. Clean all the connectors. Problem solved.
