Railko Conversion

I'm also putting some axle cases from a 1958 88 onto my series one, and I need to convert them to railko. I was wondering how one can knock the splined shaft out of the arms? I have some swivel balls from a 1969 SIIA, but they have a strange gray plug-like thing in the top? how do I get this out? Just some questions that have come up recently! :D

The Splined pin is pressed into the arm and then pinned in place. If you clean them off you should be able to see the pin, it's about 1/8" in diameter. You carefully drill that out and then press out the spline and press in the Railco pin.
