I thought it would be a nice to have a thread for Series III owners to display their rovers. *(mostly because that's what I own).

Don't get me wrong, I love all the series vehicles, but sometimes I only want to see other SIII's for ideas or inspiration.

They’re already jealous of our padded dash & synchronized transmission, why antagonize them further?:nono:

Don't forget our heavy-duty plastic grilles!

Wait, you occasionally only want to see SIII's for inspiration and then show a side view that shows very few of the things that make it different?

c'mon iiis, iis jealous of you...that be like being jealous of a little brother. there's nothing on a iii i want except maybe 24 splined axles, syncronized tranny, newer wiring, seats that only rotted for 30 as opposed to 50 years, larger brake drums and that girly (no offense to terri ann and the likes of her) power bake thing...

Don't be jealous.:nono:
Pick yourself up a Series III trans and put the guts in your Series II box.
You get a synchro trans and keep the better Series II clutch mechanism.

That's what I did.
Your get the best of both worlds plus a lower reverse gear.:thumb-up:

Hey people, no trash talking or jealous claims on my end. Just enjoy seeing some pics of vehicles like my own, that's all. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Here is our '80 SIII 109 and '75 SIII 88. The 88 is being rebuilt as a SIIA due to a rollover.

Bob,
You wouldn't have an extra 8 spoke wheel kicking around would you? I need one for my spare.

Bob-

That's cheating, both II & III headlights! Honestly I've always kind of liked that look and if parts weren't so scarce out here in the west I'd probably do it to my truck. Really like the look and color of the 109.

Vehicles with padded dashes and syncro gearboxes really are not Series rovers just don't tell them.

In Pa. the state inspection rules only allow one set of auxiliary lamps if not fitted at the factory. Any extra lights must remain covered. I had already replaced the 88's early SIIA rad support with a late 'no headlamp' SIIA piece before the rollover, due to needing the support for the wife's SIIA 109. After the rollover the kindly state trooper told me that he could cite me for having too many lamps on the front of the 88.... Using the early SIIA rad support retains a 'factory' look, and still allows for another set of aux lamps. Besides, I don't really like the plastic grill.

The 109 is Dupont Centari enamel in their pastel green paint code. It is built on a military chassis with the extended spring hangars.

I'll be at Matt's next Friday. Looking forward to seeing your Rover in person if it's still there.
