We have set the distrubutor to 3 degrees before top dead center and locked it down, accelerated the engine and have no mechanical or vacuum advance. Any suggestions?

remove diz cap, pull the vacuum tube from the carb and suck on it, does the advance move? pull the rotor, points and condensor and remove the deck, when removing the deck is the vacuum advance rod connected to the deck? once deck is off clean the parts below the deck and oil 'em. i'd do this with the diz out so as not to allow cleaner to drip down into the oil sump. i use gear oil to lube that stuff under the deck.

Is this the new dizzy ya ordered or did you rebuild your old one?

We purchased a coil that was said to be internally ballisted. Apparently it was not. Eventually I began to notice melted plastic at my points. Without a ballist resistors my points would melt after 30 seconds. A fifteen dollar resistor fixed my ignition problems.
